A Letter From America
After receiving a letter and parcel from America from my uncle John, I was surprised to find the parcel was an old book of burials for the now closed local chapel of Pole Moor. The book consisited of over 70 pages of burials from 1783 to 1836. Names, some abodes ages and the location of the graves were listed by a very complicated measurement system! In the back of the book were loose papers relating to Pole Moor chapel and to the Broadbent family. One interesting point was that there had been along line of Broadbent sextons at the chapel from 1783 to 1831,and 1878 to 1914. In Johns letter his final words were “Now the book is going home to local ground, you Robert should finish the job of completing all the burials for the Pole and Dean Head chapel when I send you the second book for Dean Head!” I thought is the chap mad or what! After some though, about one minute I thought it is in my blood to finish the job and also to would greatly help many people who have family up here!
THIS WILL BE THE ONLY FULL, COMPLETE SET OF BURIALS!
FOR POLE MOOR & DEAN HEAD CHAPELS!
