Births

With the event of Henry VIII, abolishment of monasteries in the mid 1500's the Church of England
slowly formed a registration system of births, marriages, and burials. The early records from 1538 to 1550 in many parishes did not survive, due to poor storage conditions and some clerks of that time were not aware of the importance of the parish records!!

The Broadbent family is listed in many of the early registers for Huddersfield "St Peters", Halifax "St Johns", Elland "St Marys",Almondbury and Kirkburton church. Below is a selection of births from the 1500's.
